The
Restoration Process
Grinding:
Utilization of coarse diamond-encrusted abrasive pads to remove
normal wear and tear on the stone surfaces.
Honing: Application of finer and finer diamond-encrusted
pads to render a surface as smooth as glass.
Compounding:
Burnishment of the stone surface with aluminum oxide to fuse the
stone’s natural calcium and restore its original luster.
Epoxy Seam, Crack and Chip Treatments
Seam
& Crack Treatment: Used to repair cracks and enhance the appearance
of stone with multiple joints between slabs. Marble Crafter restoration
specialists match the color and veins of the stone with specially
prepared epoxy, filling in the joints, sanding, honing and applying
compound to the joints until they virtually disappear. Unlike
grout, which is commonly used by most installers, epoxy completely
fills the gaps in the joint, creating an even surface and stronger
seams that prevent shifting between stones.
Chips:
To address large chips in the stone, the Marble Crafter restoration
specialist will locate a stone with a comparable appearance, cut
the stone to fit within the chipped area, color-match epoxy to
hold it in place, sand, hone and compound to make the chip vanish.
